3pt Hitch not lifting.

Hello all fellow Ford Tractor Owners!!!! New member So be nice!!!

I have a ford 801 series select-o-speed, not sure of the year tho. The other day I was going to go hook up the two bottom plow and go plow a food plot for a buddy down the road for hunting. Well I get it hooked up and go to lift the plow up and it only lifts it about two inches off the ground. Well first off, the guide that stops the lever on the top we had to remove that bolt so we can go past to even lift up our roto-tiller. But in the past it hasn't been this bad. We replaced the hydraulic fluid and nothing same lift height. My father read the book and he messed with the float lever and the two bottom plow lifted up. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to adjust the lever or knows what is wrong. Also if anyone on here knows someone around the Flushing/Flint, Michigan that works on these tractors. I can post pictures later if needed for the year.

a couple things.

1, oil, but you said you already checked it.

If it comes up any with the 3pt lever, then it is not a pump prime issue.

2, if you press down or hold the small 3" draft handle at some angle, while trying to move the 3pt lift handle, does the lift start to respond like normal?

3, to plow , you would have the 3" draft lever pointing down, to mow ( position control ), the lever would be pointing horizontal.

It is very possible that the cam and cam pin are very worn, and now the lift needs adjustment internally.

post back.

PS. your 801 sos will be an 871 or 881 depending on if it is single or dual speed pto.

01 series are model years 58-62

Its a 2 speed PTO, and yes the lift started to act like normal but it lifted it sky high so I had to drop it back down.

in draft mode, the lift is in transport mode and all the way up when near the top of the quad, and the rest of the quad is varrying levels of draft.

How do you make the adjustment on the inside? Do you have to remove the cover that's below the seat?

Unless you are real tiny and can crawl inside with a full set of tools ;)

Yeah.. You have to take the cover off.

What's the best manual to get on how to adjust and replace parts on the 881? also does anyone know of a good reliable mechanic in the Mid Michigan?
