I am looking for a good tow set up for my 9n. I was wondering if this will fit on my tractor:

Thank you!

on a 9n, you have no under diffy bolts.. that leaves you with only the pto 4 bolts, and the 4 sway chain bracket bolts.

you could fab a bracket that used trumpet studs / bolts however.. ;)

Here's my setup for towing with a 9 or 2N. You need the sway brackets and stay bars plus the little bracket that keeps the bar from rotating. Lots of posters here do not like this but I prefer it because it keeps the trailer tongue back and out of the way of the tires when turning.

I use the same set up as you unless I am hauling cord wood on fairly flat going then I skip the stay bars and can raise the draw bar to help unload it won't quite dump on it's own but a with a little pushing out it goes. As far as the 2" ball you can get one to fit, I have a 2" and 1-7/8" on my draw bar separated by the center hole.

I built a reese style receiver that bolts to the diff (sandwiches the trumpet housings - comes in at an angle so the ball is centered but PTO has a clear shot if I pull the ball/mount out). I'll try and dig some pic up of it.

I found without the Stays (from the drawbar to the 3pt mnt) if your load on a trailer shifts the tongue will point at the sky and drag the back of the trailer on the ground with an embarrassed looking larger neighbor lady and her kids sitting for a hay-ride on the now slanted deck.....

One of the members on this forum makes an adaptor for the 9N so that you can use a swing drawbar. Wonderful invention. I think it is the old Hokie he lives in Maryland I think

do you have a closeup of the attachment that keeps the drawbar from rotating id like to fabricate one.

I built an A-frame 3 point setup for mine from scrap iron I had around. I used a 1/4"x2" angle iron and a 1/2" x 3" flat bar for the mount for a ball, and pins for the arms and stabilizer and a rig for a top link. I've pulled a 16' trailer full of logs out of a swampy forest.

(quoted from post at 14:32:56 08/25/15) Put your stay bars on the inside of the lift arms as they should be and you just might find out that you can use sway bars.
