was just reading that AGCO has released their MF-35 tractors in africa. it looks just like the old N's and Fergusson machines, I wonder if they are using the old tooling for these?

It is inconceivable that MF would be producing 1950s design MF-35s for sale anywhere in the world.

Here's a photo from the AGCO website:

The grille looks like an FE35, but that's about it. Vertical exhaust is on the opposite side from an "original" 35. AGCO says they're being made in India. Might be a decent tractor.

From the website:
"With strong Massey Ferguson heritage, this latest MF 35 is based on the renowned machine, with the same model number, which cemented its reputation in Africa and around the world over many years. Key features include a rugged 36hp engine, 6-forward/2-reverse speed mechanical gearbox and hard-wearing robust construction. Easy-to-use and maintain, the MF 35 is highly flexible. It is equally at home in cultivation, planting, transport or yard duties, working across a wide range of farm sectors including arable, livestock and horticulture, flower, tea and coffee production – making Kenya the ideal market. The tractor’s compact size means it is exceptionally manoeuvrable on smaller plots of land, while its rear three-point hitch boasts maximum lift capacity of 1100 kg enabling use of a wide variety of implements – ranging from transport boxes and mowers to ploughs and cultivators."

EDIT: I zoomed in on the picture: isn't that a "Ferguson System" decal! Now I want one!

Hoods about the right size. looks like it bolts on the same way. the front axle looks just like the N's. air cleaners similar too and the way the rear fenders are made.

Don't forget that until a year or so ago you could still buy a brand new, fresh off the assembly line 1950's Morris Oxford in India. And you can still buy a brand new 1950's vintage Royal Enfield motorbike or 1930s Lister diesel.

That said, it does sure look like new MF35 is just a nostalgia job on a modern machine, like the Mini or VW Bug.

Thanks for the info. Very interesting tractor. Wonder if it's gas or diesel... likely diesel? Not sure what they run in Kenya these days (as if I ever knew). If you'd slap a Tier IV engine in it and modernize the hydraulics it might sell over here.

I think that's made by Tafe, in India. They build a lot of export tractors, and they started out building Massey Fergusons in the sixties.

ok...spec it like that...look like that...bring it over...I'll buy one.
If they would have done it like that with the Boomer 8N, priced fairly...we'd all have one in the shed.

The Boomer 8N was a joke. Red/white paint and vaguely 8n looking headlights? Charge 30k for it! Genius!

The Boomer 8N was never intended to be a mainstream product. It was a special edition anniversary year only marketing tool used to draw attention to their real product line. It generated lots of press, website hits, and show room visits so I would guess the marketing boys judged it to be a success.

my friend just bought a new MF tractor with loader around 45hp.
great little tractor, it has a small diesel engine made in India.

from the hood/dash back it almost looks like the 1970 model 135 he traded in and much like my old TO35.
with a few new style up grades 4 speed with hi/lo

much bigger better front axle

If push come to shove, I might trade my beloved 1957 TO35 for it, as long as he threw in the great looking front end loader.
