I'm trying my luck with this "Jack of all Trades" forum. I have a gas caddy with a 20 GPM pump and a 3/4" hose.
I ordered three auto shutoff nozzles at different times. For some reasons I can not get an automatic shutoff nozzle to work (no flow). Last one I ordered it was specifically stated that it was designed to work with a minimum of 13 GPM. The first two I wasn't sure. I asked the suppliers and they said it should work with what I have. I returned both of them.
This last 13 GPM nozzle should work with my system, but it is not. After three nozzles tries, I don't have a clue on what it could be. My standard non-automatic works great and I am getting the full pump flow.
There is nothing adjustable in the auto shutoff nozzle that I am aware. If somebody has any idea, please chime in. I am all ears.

Regular auto shutoff nozzles will not work with the 12V pumps. I believe it has to do with the
combination of pressure and flow. There is a special 3/4" auto shutoff nozzle made for these pumps.
I have two Fill-Rite brand units that work well, one on gasoline and one on diesel.

Try asking at a good petroleum supplier, one that carries the Fill-Rite 12V pumps.

My 20 GPM pump never seems to deliver even half its rated volume. I'm not sure how they came up
with that rating.

ome will, as my nozzle came from a commercial station pump & works just fine on my Fil-Rite 15GPM pump.

I had the opposite experience, which is how I ended up with the Fill-Rite nozzles.

I was advised by my fuel supplier to get the nozzles that ended up working for me.

'm not at all surprised, as at stations, some seem to kick off on a nat's breath & others will run gas all the way up the neck.

The problem the OP mentioned, and that I encountered, is that the nozzle won't pass any gas at all,
not that it kicks out early or late. As I understand it, some nozzles take more pressure to unseat
and start the flow.

They must lock up a different little magic daemon in there depending on what the application is.

nteresting. Haven't experienced that.

Apparently there is some evil spirit inherent with the pump, even though there is really a strong flow with my non-auto nozzle. After three nozzles, I am not going to pursue it anymore. Actually using what I have it's not that bad for my occasional use.
Thank you for all your help.

If you want the correct 1 go to a person who has been in business of selling fuel to farmers for several years. They may have the right 1 you need is stock. They used to make 1 that fit in the nozzle holder on the fill rite pumps, they do not look like the gas station auto nozzles.
