The two 1/2" thick slices act as a grease seal for the bacon drippings, a friction modifier to keep the assembly properly positioned, and a taste bud enhancer for the 4 slices of bacon and two slices of crusty home made bread that complete the assembly ;-)

The perfect beefsteak you will never find in a store. Gawd I love [b:74f1905abc]real[/b:74f1905abc] vine ripe tomatoes....

If I ever have to pick my last meal it would be all the BLT sandwiches with home grown maters I could eat...

For supper I had a big bowl of peas I had just picked a big slice of corn bread and a home grown better Boy mater... I broke up the corn bread into the bowl of peas and sliced the mater and dumped it in there also... YumYum

Last nite I made a salad to go with my steak. The salad consist of mater and burb-less cucumber I saw no reason to mix anything else with it and fudge up a good mater...

Cantaloupe has come and gone I am down to my last few slices its water Mellon time :D
 
Look for Julia Child's Whitebread recipe. Makes two loaves. Slice the first warm loaf, make BLT's, wrap second loaf with Saran wrap and foil.
Stick it in the freezer. When it gets cold out, find Alton Brown's French Toast recipe, and use your frozen loaf of homemade bread. You will be
instantly declared a hero, and will never have to work again a day in your life.
Well, it's all good except for the last part, I still have to go to work everyday, but anyone who has had my French Toast or bread thinks I'm an
awesome chef. If you can put Sure seals on a 9N in November in New England, then you can make bread worthy of those tomatoes. I do love
this time of year!

My wife was picking some Brandywine, AKA the ugly tomato, out of the garden yesterday. They seem pretty happy.
Real good on potato bread with Mayo or Blue cheese dressing.
