2n crankshaft pulley

I just noticed the crank pulley on my 2n wobbling. Any ideas on what us going on with it? Do you have to remove the front end to replace it? I saw some old posts that said not to worry too much about it?

Is the pulley loose and wobbling or is it bent so it
looks like it wobbles when the engine is running?
Is it the stock pulley or a loader drive pulley?
Either way, I would worry about a loose pulley.

I believe it's stock, no loader. The bolt (for lack of a better word) is tight. I assume it's just bent, but I've never had one apart to know for sure. Do I have to separate the motor from the front end or will it come off without doing that?

On my 9N when I took the stock pulley off and put a loader
pulley on I had to take the front bolster off.
It is not a bad job, it just sounds like one.
Support the tractor under the engine, steering arm and radius
rod off on one side, unbolt the bolster/front end and roll it away
to the opposite side. Do your work, roll it back and reconnect.

I took my hood and doglegs off, but I think it was Colin that
posted and said you can do it by just lifting them up enough to
clear the bolster. His pictures are probably still in the archives.

I believe it may be possible to change that pulley by just
loosening the bolster and moving it forward without removing
it, but I have never tried it myself to say for sure.
Someone here probably has though, hopefully they'll chime in.

I would still want to know if it is bent or wobbling.
They may be two different levels of repairs.

Agreed....further....a wobble is never good to endure
even if the pully is tight.... Makes things out of
balance.... Out of balance causes wear in my most
humble musing!

The OEM pulley is a riveted construction and although I have never personally seen it has a reputation for the rivets loosening.

I've done this pulley job many times - take the front bolster off. It's not a lot of work and will make it much easier to R&R the pulley. You will wind up spending less time and experience a whole lot less exasperation.
