My dads friend has this Ford. He says it is a 1964 4000. I do not know much about these tractors. I have been working on mainly 8N's. Are these good tractors?

I have the one my grandfather bought new in 63. Fine tractors especially with the 5speed
and the 2 stage clutch

King of the hill in the pre 65 Fords.
looks pretty good too.
Take the loader off and throw it away, fix what needs fixing, add some weight to the rear (fluid, weights or both)
and it will handle most anything you throw at it...for him, and generations after him.
ps Since you do N's (I like N's too)
don't ever use that tractor.
Going back to your N then, will be very hard.

They are outstanding machines.
No harder to work on than an N, no harder to find parts for but much more capable.
That one kinda, sorta looks like it's a diesel - maybe? Judging by the square looking air cleaner box where the carb would be on a gasser.
If it is a diesel that would be a bonus.
Sweet looking original 3 bar bumper with it too.

Well, here is the deal. I have tried buying this tractor several times over the last few years. He always said he was going to fix it up. Then he puts it up for sale for $1200.00 I missed it. It sold already.
