Need engine block

I am restoring a 47 and the original engine had a very well disguised cracked block. (Not repairable) I bought a parts tractor for the engine and some other parts for another project, after checking carefully for cracks. Today I pulled the sleeves and #2 has 2 cracks, top to bottom in the cylinder wall. (Again, not repairable) I checked EBAY and Craigslist and I haven’t seen anything for sale like I need. Anyone know of a source for a front mount block, preferably with .90 sleeves, at a reasonable price (AKA Cheap)? All I need is the block, I have head, oil pan, internals, etc.

I believe I have seen some discussions of cracks in the wall outside the sleeves and opinions that these are not a major issue and that sealing can be done-check archives on this and the other board and see what you can find before giving up on the block. As long as the coolant and oil don't mix and it doesn't run out on the floor it may not be an issue with new sleeves.

Location is everything. I've got one in Northern Il, needs rebuilding but no cracks. I would sell it to someone who can rebuild it cheap. Had a guy sell me a cracked block once for $500, advertised on the classifieds here. Schoolteacher from Indiana, no morals whats so ever! Ran but leaked antifreeze. Still have it. Don't know how someone does that and sleeps at night. So counting the anchor I have two.

I should have one in a parts tractor. I'm in N.E. MS 38843. Block will be stripped and magna-fluxed to assure no cracks. $250 Price includes main bearing caps and oil pump.

Both of them unfortunately are beyond repair. We normally don't have weather cold enough to crack blocks down here, but the last 2 years we have had some bad freezes, so a lot of engines got busted. People are not to diligent about putting anti freeze in their equipment. Especially something that they aren't using much or at all.

I really hope you have better luck finding one than I have had. I have been looking for an engine or block for my 42 for a couple of years. No luck except for some to far to go get. I have looked into shipping but most will not ship and if they do ,shipping is more than the block.

Was in Branson earlier this spring. Had a good time. I'm about 5 hrs east on 44. Engine runs, but smokes a lot, Has thin sleeves.

Does anyone know for sure if a totally stripped down 8n side mount block is the same as a totally stripped 2n front mount block? I don't have an 8n block on hand to compare them.

They are not the same but that does not mean one could not make them work.
