Hello I need some advice about a customers Jubilee.

Hello I need some advice about a customers Jubilee. It has been converted to twelve volt. I think the ignition switch is no good. The question is the current ignition switch has three wires coming out the back of it, the one wire appears to have never been hooked up to anything. I have looked online at new ignition switches, it seems like they all are two wire models. Do I need to get a three wire model and figure out where the third wire goes? I think that an ignition switch does care whether it is twelve volt or six volt am I thinking correctly? I tested for spark by removing each spark plug wire one at time while the customer cranked the engine over while I held a spare plug which I put into each boot and it against the spark plugs which were still in the head. I am going to get a new ballast resistors and try it because they are not that expensive. I did not have test light or volt meter with me. I should have brought one with me. Thank you for and all advice

Maybe, I could be of help< 'till DELL interceeds.
Of course, Sounder will overide me.

BEWARE, I have some esperience in a JUBILEE. BELT BUCKELS

3-wire switches are not NORMAL.

If the two wires that are hooked up connect power to the coil,
which I suspect they do, then you can just jumper the switch
to see if you then have spark. Jubilee originally had a two
wire switch. The switch will not care 6V or 12V as long as
it is capable of handling the current.

If it has a Delco 10SI alternator with a two wire internal regulator. I'm guessing the extra wire on the switch was the excite wire for the regulator.

If someone did an alternator swap and changed from a two wire regulator to a one wire setup. Then the extra wire on the switch would no longer be needed.
