Ok I'm thinking of putting new seals and gaskets on my 8n is this a task that I can do? I'm just not sure about the front and rear seals, will I have to unbolt the crank to put the seals in. Thanks

I don't remember things too well any more. but if I recall correctly. The front seal rides on a surface of the front pulley. If the surface is scored or worn, the new seal will surely leak, so the pulley may have to be reworked or replaced. At first attempt, I tried to used a wire type seal remover on the top rear seal, but that didn't work. I think I had to lower the crank a bit to remove the rear seal retainer. Tried to tap it out without dropping the crank a bit and I broke it. Had to buy a used retainer. Some say you can use a one piece front end seal; I didn't. Others say you don't have to remove the top portion of the rear seal only the bottom, but I figured while I had it apart, I'd do both top and bottom.
