Fabricated My Own Battery Box

Should be some pictures at the bottom.

The old one was rotted out pretty badly. When I told my wife about it; she did that deep man voice thing and said: "I thought you just bought a welder."

I used 16 gauge steel; because that's what they had at Tractor Supply Company. I think the original is slightly thicker metal. I made the cuts with a circular saw and a masonry blade (worked fine). A little grinding, filing, welding, drilling... The hardest parts? Getting that double bend on the back using just the edge of a workbench and some clamps and a vice grip for a brake and welding in bolts for captive fasteners for the air cleaner and solenoid. My wife was actually impressed!

Nice work!

That reminds me of the time when the wife pointed out an overgrown fence line & said " Can any of those tractors pull a bush hog or are they just here for you to work on?"

Looks great to me and really tough without a brake!
Did you add a spring hook to the bottom or are you
going to hook the spring up somewhere else?

This box was from a 640, so I didn't see any spring hook on the bottom. Now I'm wondering if I missed something?

I did drill a couple of holes in the sides to anchor a wire used for holding the battery in place.

Thanks for all of the views and compliments. This was really a first welding project for me; so a little appreciation is inspiration to do more.
