Guys.........annual 3-day stockdog trials fer Australian Shepherd Club. I usually provide my eazy starting 6-volt 8N with rake to clean up the HAY that gitts spilled on the ground by the cattle and sheep. So I went to START it and battery was flatter'n'pancake. Hooked up the 6-volt charger and letter charge overnite. Still flatter'n'pancake. Now ittza PANIC time. Tried JUMPIN' the starter motor with my dual battery 12-volt Dodge Diesel pick'em-up battery. NOT EVEN A GROAN. Went to trial to gitt some brain help. Feller sez, gitta NEW BATTERY. O.K......so down the road I go and $90 later new 6-volt battery installed. Turns the engine over very nicely ...but... still NO START!!! hummm......FLOODED SPARKIES..... So down the road I go to 4-different autoparts stores before I find some AutoLite 437's 'nutter hour wasted. (frown) and I STILL kent gitter started (double FROWN) Now I go back to the stockdog arena with egg onna my face and NO TRACTOR. All I ken say, it musta been GOOD alfalfa 'cuz there wasn't much to clean-up. (all done by hand rakes, wow) Why didn't my battery charge? 'cuz the charger ON/OFF switch is BROKE!!! (project fer 'nutter day, eh?) And rite now, I gotta a BIGGER problem. My 12yo Australian Shepherd dog DIED during the 4th of July. And he hadda FULL bucket of water. Yeah, ittza been HOT, 93*F yesterday. 99* today. Even ICE WATER tastes WARM. Where is that Gin'n'Tonic??? .......Dell

Sorry to hear about the dog Dell, that's a shame.
I'm sure you can bring the N back to life, but not the dog.

My daughter had a border collie that stayed with us now and then. She always went everywhere with me and always wanted to fetch sticks. However, if it was really hot she would run for awhile then just go and lie in the shade under my truck.

I'm sorry about your doggie Dell.
Like Royse says, you can fix your tractor but not your pal.
I had to put my own little pal down 2 years ago.
I still find myself talking to her.

The last time I cried in the past 20 years was the day my pal Bluff died. Been gone now for over a year and I still miss him.
Sorry about losing you friend Dell. Get another one!

Zane

My condolences. I lost my Scosh (she was the runt) a year and a half ago and I still get weepy when I think of her. She was part Maremma & I was her herd... always watching over me, making sure I was ok. They sure have a way of weaseling into your heart.

where's the kleenex

Gary..........thanks, was on my way to the Australian Nationals in Greeley, Colo. Hadda pop-up and kennel crate fer Keeper. Slept on the banks of the South Platte river where the skeeters were size of dive bombers. (frown) I usually give blood at the office .......Dell

So sorry to hear about the loss of your dog, Dell.
Hope you get another one when you are ready.
Dogs are great pals.

Been reading these pages for a while now and I always enjoy seeing Dell's name pop up in a thread as I know the response will bring a smile. Not this time.
Will Rogers once said “If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.” I agree.
Keep your chin up Dell...
