Hydraulic Oil Change 2 out of 3........

Thanks for all of the help on my previous question about the type of oil to get. I picked up the oil came back home and started to drain the old oil
starting at the back drain plug, where I drained about 4 1/2 gallons out, then moving to the next plug I probably got a quart out, on the third drain
plug is where I ran into trouble. Using the socket I had used on the second plug (1 1/16) when placing in on the head it was too big, so I grabbed the
next size down and it was too small. When I started looking close at the head I saw the marks from either a pipe wrench or a pair of vice grips. Tried
taping the one-inch socket on it but no luck. I am at a loss except for locking a pair of vice grips on the head, any of you more experienced guru's
have any tips for getting a socket or wrench on the head?

As old as these tractor are it is very common to find plugs like that where a pipe wrench has been used and many times that is about the only way to get one off also

Tap (upward) around the periphery of the plug with a small hammer with reasonable force to help loosen it before trying a Vise Grip or a pipe wrench.
