8N power plant update

Hey everyone, just wanting to show what I've got done so far. This is my first attempt at restoration. Working outside under the trees, my focus is on preserving it so i can use it on a small piece of ground. If a guy was real serious, a shop, and a little more know how could really make this a show piece.

(quoted from post at 07:51:10 07/05/15) Thanks, Yeah, no oil filter. The Mag is a Wico xv2065, rare, and hard to find parts for.

I have a XH 1113 on a ford industrial in one of my 8ns. Sure runs good and is a easy starter. Parts are available for it.
The governor that mine came with is a bit different and I removed it and installed one from an 8n. It has a different adjustment on it. Always figured it was for surge control.

You have a real nice show piece there!

Thanks, i was warned about using a 8n because it's not enough tractor, but i also noticed that first gear is a little fast, unless they have a sherman low,,,, lol, yeah, i'm hopin' to make some memories,, :) Not sure what i'll end up using to pull it yet.

Thank you, i saw that mag when i was researching mine. I had just a tiny spark when i first got it. I was wondering if they would
interchange, but i had this one rebuilt in Spokane WA. and it works great now. The parts i've been getting for this motor are not
quite right, the exhaust pipe doesn't have as much clearance as the original, the oil pressure gauge needed modifying, the
radiator. I just tried to put in a push/pull kill switch and broke the darn thing, so i'm switching to a toggle switch. I've
learned a lot these last 5 months that's for sure :)

Looks great
We had an IH combine with apron feed back in the early 50s. It had the Cub engine. Hand cranked. Magneto. When it got hot and you cut it off it would not start again for at least one hour or more no matter how hard you tried. Even wore the crank handle into trying one day.

I was about 15 and got drafted to tie off the sacks while sitting on a little bench. I ate enough dust to have a garden in my nose and mouth. Sometimes I had to put a sack over my head in order to breath at all.

Make a round and then stomp a lever to dump the sacks in one place so they could be loaded onto a trailer.

Things sure have changed! Thank goodness!

Thanks for the comment. I have been warned about trying to start it when hot. There's a fella up the road who used to run one, he said he was glad when they got a PTO model. Love the garden in your mouth comment,,, lol,, that's how i felt on second cut each year with my New Holland 905 :)
