8N Manifold Gasket

Decided to repaint my manifold on my 52 8N, with some high temp paint that is supposedly good for 1500°. Thought it would be best to remove it and wire brush before painting. Got a set of replacement gaskets (MS8782B) from NAPA on order and will pickup tomorrow morning. Should these be put on dry, or is there some pucky that should be used on the gaskets? Manifold and engine area are clean, flat, and shinny. Thanks in advance for any recommendations or suggestions.

Originally they went on dry. I use the copper coat on mine also. It makes a better seal for the intake side. it's high temp so it helps prevent exhaust leaks.

Copper Coat ---another one of those things that is not a show stopper if you don't happen to have it But I think it ensures a good seal--sure can't hurt anything..Good stuff..

High Temp can mean many different things. In the case of header paint, it can mean 1500F. But In the case of Copper Coat (like with most "high temp" glues and sealants) it means only 400F. Exhaust manifolds can run at anything from 400 to 1200 F.
