The dreaded Iowa tractor that was stuck...So when I bought the tractor the po told me that he thought it had a stuck valve..after it was delivered I again spoke to him and he said a mechanic said burnt valve..tractor is lacking power..however not as much after turning the distributor. But so more pressing issues...seems to have a slight knock somewhere..now it had a loader on it and the loader pulley wobbles. I do remember when I was pulling on the fan belt that it appeared to just graze the timing cover. Could this be the source of the knock? Knock increases with speed. Not a loud knock. 2nd..after running it awhile yesterday (ran like crap) I noticed oil seeping out #2 and #3 spark plug holes...with the plugs in and the engine running. I have not done a compression test on it nor have I removed the valve covers...It also took a bit to run on all 4 cylinders and maybe it didn't continue to run on all 4 causing it to sound like crap. Will sticking valves cause the oil issue? It holds 20lbs pressure hot. Im running #'s through my head to determine what to do with the engine.

I guess I missed that one, been busy lately and not on much.
Are you sure it needs a rebuild? Sure its worth a rebuild?
I'd want to check for cracks before I made a final call.

Belt could cause a tapping noise if its hitting.
You said the pulley wobbled. Is it loose or just bent?
If its loose and will wobble by hand I'd want to know where.

Best of luck with it! Don't forget to post pictures! ;)

if the pulley on the front is loose. It cAN Damage the crankshaft. The valves don't affect oil pressure.

If a valve is stuck open most times they make a hissing sound. Most noticeable when the engine is cranking with the starter right after you turn the engine off.

I will check the pulley on Thursday evening. I do recall when pulling on the belt when it was still stuck that it made a tinking sound (for lack of better word) when I wiggled it. It doesn't sound like a rod knock. I suppose I could check the pickup tube also. I recall someone on here saying their tube was hitting the crank after an oil change. Is it worth a rebuild? Well I don't know. If I was to sell it after all that I would still be able to make money on it. If I don't factor in shipping its a couple hundred dollar tractor. If I do then its a 900 tractor. I don't hear any hissing from it. This is the last time we drove it around. It wasn't running so well and that's when I noticed the oil in #2 and #3 spark plug holes.

From the vid it looks like it's burning oil too. Thought for a minute you were fogging for skeeters.

That's from the atf I poured in the
cylinders. It had pretty much stopped
smoking. Then put some atf and seafoam in
the gas/oil to try clean up the valves a
bit. So it started smoking again. I'm
wondering if the 2&3 plugs fouled due to
oil causing it not to run so well. Off to
the lake Thursday so it will be a week or
so before I start taking it apart.
