Gas Level In Carb

'45 2n...Got to wondering just where the gas level was in the carb I rebuilt, I rigged up this liquid level to check. I don't have any info on where it's supposed to be and was hoping someone on here could tell me if this looks right. It's kind of hard to tell from the pic but the level is at the black mark on the tube, pretty much at the bottom of the "Marvel" on float bowl. Don't know for sure but this seems a bit close to the top edge of the float bowl. Float was set 1/4 inch from deck as per manual. Thanks for any help....Dan

ctually looks a bit low.

Thanks JMOR...after I took the pic an air bubble burped out and it did raise a bit more. Now the only problem is keeping it there...came back a couple hours later and it had gone up another 3/16 inch, guess the new needle and seat aren't working quite right. Any tricks to get these new rubber tipped needles to seal properly? Thanks Dan

urn the gas valve off when you are not running engine. I try to stay away from those tipped needles. Be sure seat is very tight against gasket.

As JMOR said, turn the fuel off and make sure the seat is tight.
To add to that, the needle, seat and gasket need to be clean.
The round end of an orange wood stick (used for fingernails)
can be used to lightly burnish the inside of the seat if needed.
Don't use any pressure on it, just spin it back and forth
between your thumb and forefinger. Then clean it again.

I've been looking for 2 years(casually)and can't find any kit with a solid needle. Are you reusing old ones?
