8N 12 Volt The tractor was fine then this morning I push the starter button and nothing happens. Battery is full, Stater button and ignition switch OK, There is 12 volts going through the raly all the time even when off. Is that the problem?

Thanks,

If you haad voltage going thru the relay, the starter should be turning over. The relay is nothing but a switch hooking the battery to the starter. You should have battery voltage at the small terminial on the solenoid and the large terminial the battery cable is hooked to, but none on the starter side until you push sthe starter button.

Key should have nothing to do with it. Whack the solenoid with a wrench & see if it releases.

I have a feeling you don't know how the 3 post 8n solenoid works.

the small post is hooked to the hot bat post thru a coil. grounding that small post with the thumb button energizes the coil and pulls the relay in. thus measuring that small post and the incoming bat post show hot in ref to ground all the time.

It's basically about knowing your machine.

Now, if the transfer bar post to the starter is also hot, relay is stuck and starter is shot.... Open armature and/or field.

I'm betting on the former.

Hove you pulled plugs to check for hydrolock?
