12 Volt system about 6 years ago. It started acting like it had 6 volt system in it about 3 weeks ago. Slowly turning over until it started yesterday it wouldn't turn over. Replaced the battery and the ceramic resistor(?) still won't turn over. Lights are bright and strong. Tried crossing it over at the starter - very little spark. Where to next??? Thanks!!

Sounds like your starter has bit the dust which they do over time. Time to pull it off and have it checked

bad spark? new battery? slow cranking all of a sudden?

I'd check cables, terminals and ends. might have a very bad cable or ground... low amps like lamps work, but not starter.

ceramic resistor? what all resistors do you have and what coil do you have?

key switch new or 70 years old?

voltage at coil points open and closed?

"Tried crossing it over at the starter" Not sure what this means, but what happens when you put the tractor in neutral and use jumper cables,
one lead on the starter and the other on a good ground?

Thanks for the replies! I have a new switch, well 6 years old, cleaned the connections as well, I also cleaned the ground. It does have new, 6 year old, cables as well. I will try the jump start method (Not in gear). May be the starter- that's original to the tractor. Or at least quite old.
