Here is what I am up to.

I should not be confessing any of this.

Most parts are primed. Paint is on order. New tires...are what got me started.

Belonged to my Great Grandad. Doesn't matter what the old girl is worth...I couldn't sell it...and it needed tires $$$. I figured if I was going to spend some money I might as well try to take it a step further. Most everything else is elbow grease. Least that's what I'm telling everybody.

ebay original oil pressure guage
radiator....
steering wheel....
misc...doo dads
Paint / Primer etc.
a truckload of black beauty.
A little Nickle Plating maybe...got to check into that.

Oh Yeah....and a brand new dewalt pressure washer! OUCH!

Front rims are really rusty inside. Hoping I can save them.
I will coat the insides with POR 15.

Having some fun on my staycation. Should have some paint on it in the next few days.

Will post a finished picture at some point very soon I hope.

So...it's like the guys try and try to tell you. It's crazy! And I'd really like a different tractor, but this is the one and only thing left that Louis had. I am the caretaker.

So I will do this.

Looking good so far! As far as I'm concerned, sentimental
reasons are the best reasons to do a refurb such as that.
We sure don't make any money at it! :)
Looking forward to seeing it when you get it finished!

My front rims on my 8N are rusted badly inside as
well. Near as I can figure water gets in around the
tube's valve stem and then gets held there by the
tube. I was a little surprised when I took it off a
couple of weeks ago.

I sandblasted my rims yesterday. What a miserable job. Well...better than going to work. (I'm on vacation) But my compressor was compressing and heating the very humid air. As soon as that air entered my airhose it cooled and the moisture condensed out causing me much grief with the sandblaster.

Anyway...my last act of the night was to put the POR 15 right to the rims inside and out. I woke up to a bunch of runs but was able to quickly hand sand them out with 100 grit. I'll touch up the thin spots this morning with the little bit of POR 15 that I have left, then scotchbrite pad them to scuff the surface then primer EVERYTHING one last time. Hopefully spray some real paint on Saturday???

I feel like I've torn the roof off my house and now have to figure out how to put it back on.

My old tractor is bent on making sure I know that a fancy coat of paint does not make her new.

The fuel petcock is leaking around the bowl as it always seemed to do. I removed it and placed the bowl back on the gasket surface and sure enough it rocks back and forth due to being overtightened over the years.

In the past I've. Been able to get it to stop leaking.. Not this time.

So I carefully took a dremmel with a little grinding wheel and removed the high material from the gasket surface. I then noticed that it seemed to get even better if I rotated the glass bowl. As if the glass bowl wasn't flat either.

I think I may have the problem licked for now.

I wondered too if A person could carefully sand the glass bowl to custom fit a warped fuel petcock?

Below are some pics of where I am at on the tractor.

The tires were 756.00 mounted with discard of the old tires from Petes Tire Barns (a chain here in New England). I thought that was a "descent" price.

Hope to crank it up later today.
