I am replacing my pto shaft in my 8n problem is I took out 8 bolts four for the pto housing and 4 for the plate that I added for my draw bar. I have four shorter bolts and four longer bolts with washers. I cannot remember if the shorter or longer ones with washers hold on the pto shaft housing any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's what the parts catalog lists for the bolts to hold the PTO housing in place... Bolt, Hex Head, Cover to Center Housing, 7/16"-14" x 1.12".

Maybe you can answer a question for me please? I'm trying to get up the nerve to replace my 1 1/8" shaft with a 1 3/8" shaft.

Did you have any trouble pulling the old shaft out? I've heard lots of horror stories about people having to cut out a twisted shaft.

CaryC,
Don't sweat it.
Remove the bolts and grab the shaft and pull it out.
If it comes out easy, great.
If it does not pull out then go to plan B.

I'm not sweating anything. Right now there is no real reason to remove my 1 1/8" shaft since nothing is wrong with it.

I just don't want to start something that results in going to plan "B" if I had just left it alone in the first place. I'd just like to know the odds of having to resort to a plan "B".
