I messed up and left couple of gal.of Round-up in my sprayer. Made a new batch, and screen kept plugging up.
I have drained the tank, and cleaned the screen.
I have saved about 10gals. What can I screen that with, for use? And was the white stuff plugging the screen
and floating in the tank. The round-up eating the tank(plastic)or the sufficient gelling?

RoundUp decays by bacteria eating it (the last time I read the label, it warned against mixing with pond water as the bacteria in the water would result in poor results). It could be that the white stuff is bacterial growth. How long was it in the tank?

hi hippie ,
i keep latex paint filters from home depot around for straining everything from paint to my morning coffee , i would think they would work . i have also used my wife's old panty hose .

I did that once. Had to go out of town on business for a week, left the sprayer in the barn half full. The week turned into a month and the temps got up into the high nineties for most of that time.

Came home to a nasty mess of big white tape worm like growths in the mix, clogging the strainer like crazy. I just kept spraying and sloshing the tank until I could get no more out, then dumped it into a bucket and poured it around the barns. Cleaning the tank was a pain, as I had to take it all apart to pull out all of the "noodles". Learned to never leave anything in the tank after that.

get as much out of th tank as you can. Then run pipeing hot water through the sprayer. Works wonders, when you get that snotty mess in your tank.

I have one of those 3 gallon back pack sprayers which I like very much. One day it clogged up on me and no amount of hot water and soap would help it. I started to take it apart to get at the screen on the inside but got discouraged when I read in the instructions that you had to place a wooden block inside the tank to pound out the sprayer parts.

So, I went to Youtube and found the solution. Lay the sprayer over on it's back on something a little sloped so the water runs out of it. Now take your garden hose with a good nozzle that provides a powerful jet of water and spray it into the sprayer aiming at the bottom middle where the screen is. Do this for a few minutes then stand the tank up and fill with some water to see if it will spray now. If it's still clogged start over with the high pressure hose nozzle again.

This fixed my clogged sprayer easily without taking everything apart.

Thanks. I have the tank (boom sprayer) cleaned.
I want to strain the mix I drained from it
so I can use it, and not re clog the sprayer.

Well I tried the (wife's) nylon screen. Was working.
Ran a couple gallons thru, then some more,(white scum collecting)
I could see it in the nylon.
When I was done the crap was back in the tank.
Seems to have eaten thru.
So I wasted some product out in a thicket.
I Know now do NOT leave stuff in the tank.
I Still need to find a strainer. In case of downtime.
Still open to suggestions.
