Oil Pressure/Solder

I had my 2N engine completely rebuilt. Main cap not replaced but oil pump rebuilt. Crank was ground. Proper clearance checked for main and rod bearings and oil pump gears. On start up oil pressure is 30 at high RPM then drops to 20 at high RPM once engine warms-up. Idle is at 10 PSI. I would think oil pressure should be higher with a completely rebuilt engine. Mechanic who rebuilt engine found that the oil port holes leading to the cam shaft at both ends were filled with solder. Why would that be? He removed the solder.

There are three ports for the camshaft journals and two drilled and tapped holes at the end of the main oil galley. Which ones were plugged with solder? If it was the end holes I ASSUME he installed the proper plugs. And did anyone check the camshaft journal clearances????

That might explain a lot

Randy........would you believe them holes are supposta be PLUGGED??? By removing the plugs, most of yer oil pressure is squirting out 'stedda lubing yer crankshaft journals. Wonder what else was short-cutted??? .......oily Dell
