Leveler Box Nut

I guess that should be "fork".
. . . I need a new one cause my old tired one is now stripped. It was slipping before but I think I finished it off while tearing apart a mud mound . . . bumped a tree once with the tipped up side of my rear blade enough to totally cock the pin in my blade's horizontal angle holes. So now it remains fully extended and I'll need it for using my Ford single plow.

Anyway, I think I could get away with just the fork replaced, but I'd rather get a whole new or better than mine, leveler box assembly -- mine's kinda lumpy anyway.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Terry

I assume you mean the internal threads are stripped out?
That happens fairly often.
It's pretty easy to fix one by cutting a bit off of the end and welding a grade 8 nut on.
Easy to do and if you do a little bit of grinding/sanding afterwards you wont be able to tell it was ever done.
If you want it to last till doomsday weld two nuts on but make sure the threads are aligned internally before you tack it together.
I think those are 5/8" NC threads.

You can also get those long coupler nuts for joining allthread.

I repaired on doing the gr8 nut method. even transplanted threads on the rod section from an old long bolt. Still working 13? years later.

Hi Jerry,

Yes, [i:afdee65de3]totally[/i:afdee65de3] stripped out.

I was laboring under the misconception that the screw had thread like the screws in my old jacks.

Glad to hear about this quick fix.
What welding rod would you use? I only have 6013, 6011 and 7014 on hand.

THANKS!
Terry

Sound N,

The long nut sounds like a great idea too, so I'll do that or stack two regular nuts.

Thanks,
Terry

If you stack nuts, thread a bolt thru them then tack together to get threads aligned, then remove bolt weld up, then chase threads

Jim,

I did see them here on our host's parts pages before I started this thread, for $27.
But after freight and taxes and duty into Canada I'd be looking at $50. at least.

But . . .
I just got off the phone to an Irish musician friend who I recently learned had moved to Bellingham Washington. Now I can order several parts from YT and have them sent to another lady friend's place there and unroll my sleeping bag on Derek's floor so as to spend the time it takes to qualify for bringing a larger value of stuff back to Canada.

Thanks for pointing out that option.
