Marvel-Schebler TSX Rebuild Question

I'm rebuilding the M-S TSX carb on my 8n and all's gone fine., until now. I'm doing some headscratching.
The float needle and seat have me confused.
The instruction sheet shows a small oddly shaped spring that seems to attach, [i:935b403865]somehow[/i:935b403865], to the float needle. I didn't get one off of the carb when I disassembled it and there's my problem.
What's it for, do I need it and if I do need it how's it supposed to be positioned or attached?
The item I'm referring to is in group #13. That little squiggly line at the bottom.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

Most kits do not include the spring any longer. I have nine N tractors. Maybe one has that spring in the carb. It is not a problem.

All the kits I buy have the rubber tipped float needles and all use that sprint clip. The reason it is there is to keep the needle from sticking in the seat which of course causes problems so if you have the rubber tipped needle you should put the clip on. The clip hooks to the needle then the other part hooks to the float.

The spring attaches to the float to "pull" the needle open.
If your needle doesn't have the knob on the top to hook it on,
then you can't use the spring anyway.

Gravity and the flow of fuel is normally enough to open it unless
you have a damaged needle such as the Viton tip having a ridge
that sticks into the seat.

Hundreds (thousands?) of them out there running fine without it.

y Farmall SMTA runs fine with out the needle pull down clip, AS LONG AS I run the carb dry at last run, otherwise if it sets un-used for 3 to 4 weeks or more, the needle will be stuck in seat nearly every time & it will crank & run about one minute before it runs the bowl dry. I need one but needle lacks the "knob" to hook it on, so I just run it dry & all is well.
