What is the standard or stock wheel size for a 1951 8N? 9x28 10xz8 or 12x28?
What is the correct socket size for the lug nuts?
thanks James

9 x 28 if you are using 11.2 x 28 tires you could use 9's or 10's.
I believe the lug nuts take a 1 1/16 inch socket, but I'd have
to go verify that if someone else doesn't know for sure.

The original Kelsey-Hayes rear wheel/hat rim size of the N's is 28 x 9 (see picture) with the early 9Ns using 8 x 32 wheels. BUT, understand that they measured tires differently back then and the 9 x 28 rim used a 10 x 28 tire which is actually the 11.2 x 28 tire size. You can use a 12.4 x 28 tire on the 9 x 28 rim as well and a 10 x 28 rim too will work. I don't know if Ford had a 10 x 28 hat rim or not. The front rims were 3 x 19 Kelsey-Hayes built too with early ones being riveted and the KH and FORD script logo on the front near a lug hole. Tires were 4 x 19 Firestone single rib style. Rear lug nuts are 1-1/16" AF (Across Flats) with a 5/8-18 NF Thread. Front lug nuts are 13/16" AF with a 1/2-20 NF thread. Hope this helps...

Tim is correct.
However, I would not put 12.4s on an 8N. Reverse gear is too fast already and bigger tires compounds that. I might do it on a 9/2N but definately not on an 8N.
