8n new clutch- not enough pedal for release

Hey... I have a 51? 8n and i just put a complete transmission in it (4 speed) as gears exploded. I continued to drive in 1st (only gear that worked) until i split the tractor and installed a new trans. While it was apart it must have gotten some water in the clutch and it seized up (had to re-split). I removed the flywheel and installed a new starter gear and had it resurfaced. I installed the new clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing and pilot bearing.

New updated clutch has spring dampeners whereas the old one didnt. Old one had TONS of pad left but it seized to the flywheel.

After installing the new kit i adjusted the pedal almost all the way tight and tested.. No go.. Clutch wouldn't disengage. Kept adjusting til adjuster is litterally bottomed out and now it works but barely.

Something doesnt add up here. With my old clutch it was half way adjusted not all the way.... I just dont get it.

Any advice? Clutch is installed correctly (as in long side vs short side)

Roger200x,Did you notice the adjustments of the three fingers on the clutch cover/pressure plate? One out to far and not all three adjusted to the same & correct hight would cause the petal to have no free play and not release totally or all the way.Check linkage and throw out fork for loose, cracked or worn parts.

Check your linkage for cracks especially around the shafts and be sure it is hooked up correctly. Follow the FO-4 manual for correct adjustment.
Let us know what you find.

Disc is on the right way, linkages are not cracked, linkages are hooked up correctly... All triple checked by me and my dad.

The 3 bolts on the pressure plate aren't adjustment bolts they just hold the levers. They are tightened all the way and have a lock washer. They were like this from the factory. There are no adjustors on the fingers.

I messed with the screws on the old pressure plate and they didnt do anything when moved except jack up the levers and not sit right.

Did you remove the 3 bolts that "compress" the pressure plate?

The entire pressure plate only has 3 bolts in it. They hold the fingers in.... Not sure what you mean

I had the same problem after installing a new clutch many years ago. Split it 2 more times, checked all adjustments, and checked for cracks. My dad also followed close behind. All seemed good. Some how when putting it back together, the clutch pedal got mashed while I was putting in a lower bolt. I just happened to see a crack on the bottom of the pedal where the pin goes through the shaft. It was invisible to the eye unless the pedal was mashed. A new pedal solved the problem.
