Ford 861 Hydraulic System

My Ford 861 tractor loses its prime after sitting a day or so. I loosen the allen head bleeder screw and after a while the oil starts to come out and the lift begins to lift although it does not lift as high as it should even when the pump gets primed.
My first question is, where is the most likely leak causing the pump to lose prime? There is a manifold that connects the hydraulic reservoir to the pump and I assume there are o-rings in that manifold and maybe inside the pump as well.
My next question is what is the most likely cause of the lift to lose lift height with the brush hog attached. Is it just too weak or is it a worn control valve part? When I do get the pump primed, the lift works slower than it should and does not go up very high, it barely gets the brush hog off the ground!

Best to ask this on the Ford board.
I would check the manifold for any evidence of it haveing been hit or mashed somehow.
Then I would just go ahead and replace the orings on both ends of the manifold.
I like to buy those types of orings from the dealer. I just have better luck with OEM than off the shelf ones.

Is the shaft seal replaceable on the pump without much of a problem requiring a lot of other pump parts involved? In other words can I just buy a seal and put it in myself? I would replace the o-rings on the manifold as well of course.

I did put this on the other Ford board as well but I find there is a lot of knowledge with the folks on this board as well. I have followed this board for info on my 8N's and feel it is more popular due to the good info provided by the members.

It is kind of complicated to replace the seal and the shaft itself may need to be replaced if the wear pattern is too bad where the seal and or the needle bearing run.

I usually remove the shaft and then cut the race and the needle bearing out of the housing. Race can be pulled but takes a special tool or some creativity to get it out in one piece.
