I have a ford 8n with very low oil pressure, found the oil pump pickup tube was loose ,so I
tore it apart and put in a new tube and got a rebuild kit for the oil pump and had the pump
rebuilt..filled pump with vasoline and put back together and started tractor and no oil
pressure on gage...so took out pressure relief valve and spring,I did not replace the
spring.and shot 50 wieght oil in there and tried it again and still nothing so tried it a
few more times still nothing...Any help on this Im out of Ideas...Thanks

Take the oil line off where it goes into the oil filter and then start it up. If a good flow of oil comes out you have oil pressure and may just have to wait for the gauge to start working???

With what you did it should start right up.

I took off the oil line to the oil filter the one on the side and the one on the bottom and I just cranked it over and I just had a couple of bubbles of oil every time I cranked it over.

Is there any chance you got a kit with 9/16 gears and should have gotten 3/4 gears?

So is it better or worse since you "fixed" it? Sounds like it is worse in which case you need to revisit ALL of the things you changed, If you had this problem before you "fixed" it the problem is more complicated. Give us some real details.

The reason I took it apart was very little oil pressure and when I changed oil I noticed that the pickup tub was loose. So as long as I was in there I thought Id better rebuild the pump asm..so took it off the engine and took it to a local machine shop because I did not have a reemer to put the new bushing in..Then installed back together.

I interpret that as you went from low oil pressure to no oil pressure after installing a new pickup tube and replacing the gears in the oil pump.

If it were me I'd start by checking that "new" pump to make sure the gears are correctly installed and there are no leaks in the pickup side.

Are you sure the pickup tube is firmly attached to the pump and is not pulling are there where the gasket should seal it???

There was just recently another oil pump problem and it turned out that was the problem.
