This little part fell off the the 51 8n today any ideas where it goes or a pic?

I'll take a guess. It looks like some kind of latching mechanism.Do you have a cyclone air filter?

Laying it on the fuel door helps to give it some scale of size.
I can tell you it's not original to any N.
My guess is it's a clasp of some sort. Maybe to hold the top link up so it doesn't bang around on the pto shaft.

looks like the throttle control gov link off a latter model. Do you have a foot throttle?

It looks very similar to a device made to keep your drawbar from rolling while using a ball hitch for a trailer etc. This is my homemade one.

I did not figure it out it's not for the top link and I didn't have a latch for the drawbar it never had a foot throttle to my knowledge either my dad thought maybe a belt guide?

That is for digging corn kernel skins from behind your front teeth after eating corn on the cob. Most likely fell out of your toolbox.
