Little Stinker! (carb pics)

Ed Douglas sent this one to me.
I wish I could say it "came off a running tractor". It didn't.
This one may have "ran when parked".

Physically it's in good shape and it will be back in service soon.
The smell though is one of the worst I've seen.
We all know that old gas turpentine smell right?
This little carb had both of my overhead doors open!

Should be done this coming week Ed!
(as soon as Joanie and I get back from the track) ;)

that smell hangs around too.
let an old street/strip Mustang sit too long with the old good red-tinted gas in it.
ran about 3 minutes before everything stopped up..whew..smell.
pulled the tank and Holley and electric fuel pump, flushed/cleaned everything. new gas...ran fine.
But, years later, you can still smell it when you're in the car.

Imagine whut the rest of the fuel system is like...

If you had the time it takes a week are more brake fluid will soff'N that crud up... I like to drop sediment bowls in BF walk away and forget about them for a week then wash them off with plain water...I still have some of the GOOD carb cleaner that smell is all-full too....

I got a car in that has set for 8 years he wanted me to tune it up I was surprised it even ran I told him the fuel had to GO... I could tune till ell froze over and could never defeat bad fuel...

No sir! That smell is bad enough in the shop! LOL
I had it on that rag and disposed of the rag.
Thankfully most of the smell went with it other
than exchanging the air.

Inside ruff cast Looks ready for a coat of por-15... I had to recondition a rusty fuel fill pipe for a 92 Mustang 4/5 weeks ago so saved the liner in a pint jar so far it has not set up... You could paint the inside on quite a few carbs with it... A guy cave me the tip on how to store the liner, he lines the inside on the ones he builds...

This is KBS (same thang as Por-15) you store it top down...
You could also use Por-15 manifold black on the outside and store the paint in a jar...
