12V coil & external resistor

'41 9N Converting to 12V neg ground with electronic ignition.

The 12 volt round coil that came with the ignition kit has internal resistance of 3.5 ohms (measured on my cheap volt meter). Do I need to include the supplied external resistor (3.8 ohms) in line with the coil? Guessing the external would be used with a 6 volt square coil.

ood guess, don't use res with that coil
