Cracked radius rod

Somewhat of a surprise.

Is switching to 8n rods a worthwhile upgrade? A quick search found a couple people saying that they're a bit more heavy duty than the stock 2N rods.

The radius rods on 8Ns and 9/2Ns are a different length.
Any competent welder could weld that up but radius rods are relatively cheap and plentiful so I would just buy another one.

I'll be welding it up tomorrow. After just pulling it I found another crack on the opposite side and the bottom weld has split and the rod is bowed outwards. Going to be a long day getting it straightened out.

9n/2n radius rods are longer than the 8n .

The 9n/2n rods adjust in and out with the spindles . The 8n rods mount to the center axle and are an inch or two shorter .

The 9n's started with I beam and switched to the tube style but I don't see any real advantage of one over the other . If you bend / crack a radius rod you have problems above the designed capacity of the tractor or some other parts that are worn out .

It looks like both cracks had developed prior to me purchasing the tractor. There's evidence they started below the paint and only showed up externally recently.

I assume you've checked or replaced the front axle pin?
That's what usually wears out and causes them to bow or crack.
I personally would replace it. They're pretty thin to begin with in my opinion.

If you weren't on the left coast I could make you a good deal on
a pair. Shipping might be a killer on something that big though.
