sickle mower question

I had lost a part while discing for the sickle bar. Its numbers 18,19 and 20 on the diagram. Well i found them with the metal detector but the shims are mangled. Think i could just cut some from a cereal box or should the actual metal shim be used here? I'm sure grease will soak thru the cardboard in no time, but these things need constant grease while in use anyways. I stopped at the local shop and the cap was no longer serviced but I didn't ask about the shims. It's a Dearborn 14-60 side mount mower.

I'd substitute plain old steel shim washers.
