'41 9N Converting to 12V & electronic ignition. (Both kits from this site) Anyone have suggestions on where to hang the new (hot) round coil?? The only place I have found is the front bolt holding the oil filter. The rear oil filter bolt puts the coil right below the sediment bowl with the potential for leaking fuel.

JimNtx.I have made several brackets to mount the coil in front of the oil filter,It's easy just use a piece of 1"x 3/16" flat steel drill 3 holes in it two to match th filter mount the 3rd to match up the front hole of the coil bracket with the back hole of the coil mount used with the front hole of the filter mount. Then just put the bracket behind the filter mount bracket and bolt coil and filter back to the block. Then put a bolt and nut or tap threads in the front hole of the coil mount.I mount the coil with the wires facing down, better coil wire routing and neater appearance keeps water out to.

Those round coil brackets are easy to make but buying a new one is also cheap and easy. Just go to the local auto parts store and ask for a round can type coil mounting bracket. If they need to look up an application tell them its for a 70's Dodge truck or something.

This is what I use. had a few in the back shed.

I bolted it to the left side of the engine just above the oil filter canister. There was a nut attached to a small metal bracket which was attached to the engine. Forget if it was a 3/8 or 5/16 x 3/4 bolt that held the bracket and coil in place.
