2N rear axel seal

Got new tires for my 2N...have a little gear oil leak on the left side axel so I thought I try to replace the seal. Stop by Walter G Coales tractor sales...they said 4 hours of labor and have to do the brakes new (mine look like new)I said why not use brake clean ? They said would not work. All together about $800 and $250 to pick it up and bring back.

My question is... that I see they now have sure seals that can go on against the bearing collar (which looks good)would this be good enough to keep the oil from getting past the bearing and leaking ? As always thanks for your help.

First-tell the rip off mechanic to shove it where the sun don't shine..Second, sure seals work fine--some will come along and say they don't work---just shows they don't know their butt from a popgun...Stuff the bearings good with grease then install the sure seal..SS been on my Dad's tractor 50 yrs with no issues--yes I'm sure they need to be removed/replaced and bearings re-greased...Had SS on mine since 2004-no leaks no issues..

I have sure seals on 5 of mine. Work just fine. You can do them yourself. Use a length of 4" PVC pipe with a cap on one end to seat them. Some on this board don't like them.

Sounds like a deal to me I get more than he does. If you don't like the price you can haul your chit home and play wanna be mechanic with a SS patch yourself...

If he is replacing both outer seals the shoes and hardware the way it was designed to work he is in the ballpark...

SS hackers are hackers only because they do not have the ability to fix it correctly but call someone else names when they do...
