8N - parts or rebuild ?

My 8N threw a fan belt, overheated, and now I have bearing chips in the oil. I've already put too much time & money in this tractor and just want to get rid of it. Tire are very good with one new rear rim, tube, painted, filled with Rim Guard, and new wheel bearing . New tubes in the front tires and painted rims. Front pivot pin, king pin bushings & seals, and front wheel bearings. Axles painted. New points, condenser, cap, rotor, and coil - 2 hrs. run time. Radiator has been repaired, cleaned, and pressure tested. Carb rebuilt. Engine was rebuilt in 2006 but had less than 200 hours before it trashed. Replaced the clutch disk, pressure plate, pilot bushing, and throw-out bearing at that time. PTO shaft seal & oil pressure gage. Have a new Fel-Pro head gasket and new head bolts. Only painted parts that were repaired not the tin. I'd rather sell the tractor to someone who is into Fords rather than part it out. Tractor is in northern Wisconsin.

If you want to part it out, you will put a lot more time and effort into it.

Sell it whole at scrap price and be done with it. Sometimes we have to just move on.

But that said, I would remove the pan and take a look see first! But then I like working on them!

Howdy Gary, hope all is going well these days, On this email bit how does one show an email address on one and not the other. I see that your email is on both the modern and classic and Lisa's is only on the classic? Some time i wish one or the other would go away.

Where it says Log in to Reply, you need actually log into classic.
Try posting from classic if you don't see a login link, I think that
still makes you login before you can post. Once you're logged in
you will be able to see the Send Email link.

I don't know. I click on classic view, log in, and get a message that I'm logged in to classic view. I can then click to go to "forum" and click to return to the page. No matter which one I choose, I get the same "Log in to Reply" and "No e-mail". I even logged out completely then logged in again. Same thing. I think the Ford gods are peeing on my pancakes. :)

Not sure why it happens, but it has happened to me too.
I see you replied from Modern because of the quoting.
What happens if you reply from classic?
If that doesn't work you could ask YT support.
Chris is awesome and normally very quick to reply. :)

I never get a "reply" option in classic mode only the "Log in to Reply". It's a Catch 22. I'll try to contact support.

'I never get a "reply" option in classic mode only the "Log in to Reply".'

Yeah, I'll bet Chris can tell you what's going on.
This reply is from Classic view just to see if anything changed.

No difference but thanks anyway. How do I contact Chris? I can't find any "support" link in the page.

Just gotta say - I been on a lot of forums over the years and this has got to be the strangest one ever. This "classic/modern" view is just plain weird.

OTOH how the heck did you manage to throw a fan belt and not notice it until you also managed to throw a bearing? And, with all that money, time and effort into it why don't you just take a breather, rethink and fix it later? Do you need the cash to pay a bill or something? With all those new parts on it - drop the pan and fix it!

or whatever...

I was brush hogging my corn food plot. Got off the tractor to clean off and grease the hog and left the tractor idling. The tractor started to missfire. Didn't think much of it and finished what I was doing. Got back on the tractor & noticed a little steam coming from the radiator and thought that corn leaves may have blocked the radiator. Walked around to the front and noticed the fan belt hanging on the frame. Shut it down. Thought the misfire may have been due to water overflow so got a new belt and fired it up. Still misfired so shut it down and looked in the radiator thinking it may have blown a head gasket. No bubbles or oil. Did a sizzle test on the oil and there was water. Drained the oil and noticed the metal chips. It still had good oil pressure so I suppose one could do a quick fix and peddle it but I can't do that. I would have to tear it down and go through everything. Whatever I fix, I fix right. This tractor has been the the most unreliable piece of equipment I've ever owned. Frankly, it's been the tractor from hell. And functionally it's too light in the front end and under powered. I'm an Allis man and thankfully have several. I hate to see old iron get scrapped out and frankly hope that someone else will give her another life.

Oh, I see. Thanks. Hope my post didn't sound 'uppity'.

Looks like someone on this forum might be getting a new toy to play with. :)
