MS Carb needle seat

Guys, ordered the basic carb kit for MS Carbs from this site. The old needle was just that, a needle without any little spring thingy. New kit has the needle that uses the little spring thingy that hangs off the float, even though the picture indicates just a needle. If I install the new needle, how do I verify that the needle is closing all the way. Dumb question but I just want to be sure that I have the correct carb kit. Thanks in advance.

se your mouth to blow into carb fuel inlet and notice your breath escaping when float is dropped & breath obstructed when float raised. Pretty simple, huh?

As JMOR said, but the "spring thingy" is actually used by the float to assist and unseat the needle from its seat when the float drops. Use to be that the needle could stick in its seat and never drop when the bowl was empty.

You have to turn the carb upside down then blow into the inlet.

Yep but it does tell a guy that the needle/seat is working half way right. Now if you open the needle by moving the float and you still can not blow air in then you got a problem
