Distributor - Front Mount. Gasket Glue??

When mounting the gasket to the engine block should I use any gasket glue?

As SG said, leave it dry.
Think about trying to clean that glue off next time!

I have found that rubbing a dab of oil along the gaskets between coil & distributor and cap and distributor help to keep out moisture from heavy rains. My N sits outside most of the year.

4 (four) front mount gaskets come in the pkg for my '48 8N distributor. Where does the "Cap Gasket" go? (The thin-narrow round one). I tried to add it to the distributor but then it wouldn't let the cap seat to the distributor body (Where the points and condenser are.).

Thin layer of lube plate, no glue.

Just a dumb question. Did you remove the old gasket or o-ring from the outer groove in the cap. Is the old gasket stuck on the Dist housing.

I prefer using an o-ring over the cork gasket on the cap.
