Best way to remove paint and grease

I have an 8n that the paint is peeling and scaling. I do not want to use a pressure washer so what is the best way to remove it? I'm afraid "elbow grease" is the answer. Thanks.

8nbeer........would you believe "oven cleaner"? Rinsed off by garden hoze. Recommended by our own Zane. .......HTH, the amazed Dell

I use dollar store oven cleaner to remove grease, grime and
some of the old loose paint. It works pretty well.
The picture is of the red paint I rinsed off of one.

But if you want it all off, you have the right answer. Elbow grease.

Sodium Hydroxide. more commonly known as oven cleaner. If you prefer you can spend three times more and get it with a fancy name and a pretty purple or green or yellow or even green color. But it is still sodium hydroxide.
