Planting in slow mo

Started planting my potatoes after dinner last night. My wife helped out by dropping the taters in the furrow. she didn't want me to go fast so I slipped the step down and howard in. This tractor moved so slow that I got off the tractor while it was still driving and took a couple of photos. I'm old and I can still walk faster than this tractor drives.

Looks good. that's that's kind of the way I do it and use I use a set of disk hillers to cover them up. works good. Bob

Yea, I too use the disc hillers to close the furrow then switch to a pair of buzzard wings later to hill them up.

Now that's slow when the photo isn't even slightly blurry! :)

You guys with all your nice tractors and big fields! <sigh>

I've been rocking this garden for five years and I was finally able to sink a 2 bottom without hitting rocks.
Also have tons of manure on and in it.

Yea once in a while she does help me out. She even puts up with all my tractor stuff So I'll keep her.

Are those whole potatoes that you are planting? We always cut seed potatoes into 2 to 4 pieces as long as they each had an "eye". We used to plant with a hand planter and I think once I get in rhythm I could have easily kept up with or passed your tractor going that slow.
How many pounds of seed do you use?
My personal best year (over 35 years ago) I bought 25 pounds of seed and yielded just over 300 pounds.

Kirk my 16-year-old son needs a summer job. He's a good hired hand. Got any work for him? He can call you grandpa!!!

We cut back and are only planting about 40 lbs of yukon gold. They are cut in halfs some in thirds.. Also got some slips growing for sweet potatoes but they won't go in until the ground warms up and behind the fence of my wife's garden where the deer can't get em.
