Only start and run when choked

hi I have a 9 n ford tractor that I can start it but it will only run when its under full choke if I have it at full throttle it'll stall immediately if I read deuce the power it'll run for maybe 15 20 seconds and then stall again any words of wisdom that can help me eliminate this problem thank you.

check for an air leak where carb bolts to intake manifold, my first 8n acted that way and i put washers on bolts so i could tighten carb. tractor ran normal afterf that. any way sounds like you have an air leak somethere

Sounds as though your float/needle valve is stuck. You can try to put some wd-45 in the fuel intake line to the carb. it might clean it out but you will most likely have to pull the carb and clean it all out good and probably install a new kit. I had same problem on my 8n. That's how I got it fixed. Norm

Check gas flow through your carb. by removing the plug in the carb bowl-hold clean container underneath to catch the gas--should be steady flow--let it flow for minute or more--if not steady flow check filters and clean them..

Start by checking spark. Ya I know sounds funny but weak spark can cause that problem. Make sure you have a good blue/white spark at all 4 plugs that jumps a 1/4 inch gap or more. Then pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas for a few minutes. Catch the gas to look for water/dirt etc. If flow is poor work you way back till you find where the problem is. If both spark and gas flow are good you may need to have the carb cleaned up and rebuilt
