Stuck clutch

Rebuilt motor in 8N and reassembled. Clutch look good and did not change. Did clean when assembled. Ran find for a day or two, little use and then it stuck. Drove it until I got it to release. Pulled up to a tree and burned it for a minute or two. Seemed ok for another day or so. Now sticking again. I'm blocking clutch petal down but still not releasing. Any suggestions short of splitting tractor?

Charner you've done quite a few of these tractors as I recall, so
I'm going on the theory it's all assembled correctly and you know
what a good clutch looks like. Is oil leaking onto the clutch disk?
That might make it stick up pretty quickly.

Is there any sign of oil coming out the cotter pin hole underneath? Sure sounds like rear engine seal leaking or leaking tranny ubput shaft seal..Oil on clutch will stick them instantly..BTDT

There was no sign of oil leak at the time it was assembled and no leaks under tractor now. The only thing I did was clean the pressure plate face and clean the clutch with clutch/brake cleaner. Don't know the history of the tractor as it was a barn find and had been setting up 5+/- years.

One of our Funk's is doing the same thing. Only option I see is splitting tractor and check things out. Could be a weak or broken spring on the pressure plate? I want to replace the clutch assembly. But I am to lazy, so it just sits.
