I have a 2004 Honda Recon that I have replaced the coil on (it fires great), and carb (gets gas to plug) but it still will not even hit! What am I missing?
It had been sitting and when I got it running initially, it wouldn't idle, and it was running ruff and backfiring very loud. Then it quit and wouldn't start.

I guess there's 100 things you could do or check .

Does it have compression ? put your thumb over the spark plug hole while it is rotating ?

Will the spark jump 1/4" , it could jump .035 with the plug removed but not under compression , check a wide gap with the plug removed .

Can you feel suction on the carb when it turns over with the spark plug installed ?

Get a can of brake clean and see if it will run on that injected into the throat of the carb... If so you have a fuel issue...

It had compression, spark, plug wet, not running. Went and bought a new $3 spark plug and it fired right off!!! I have replaced the carb, coil, and other things over the past 4 months. The old plug sparked great, but it just wouldn't run?????
