Probably not - that's why you don't put it on the garden ;-)

Yep, Spring for sure. Just finished laying down the plastic mulch for the tomatoes. Squash & cukes got planted today. First crop of sweet corn tomorrow.

How does that plastic roller work? Specifically how does it bury the edge of the plastic in the soil?

" Specifically how does it bury the edge of the plastic in the soil? "

It doesn't.

I use my lister to open the furrows & turn up the hill. The lister also makes furrows about 4 inches deep. I then lay the drip tape by hand. Next step is for the wife to drive the tractor down the row w/ the plastic mulch roll hanging off the back. I bury the end of the plastic by hand, then walk behind the tractor w/ a hoe & toss up just enough dirt over the edge of the plastic to keep it in the furrows & from flying away. Once it's all laid, I open up the lister blades & go back down the rows tossing dirt over the edges.

OH Boy, when I was a kid I worked on a produce farm.
Boss had a plastic layer that I think was home made, but it
had three sets of hiller disks on it. The first (big) set were set
very shallow, but made a mound, the second set were in the
outside edge of the first furrow and threw dirt outward. Then
the third set, behind the plastic roll pushed the dirt that the
second set threw out back in to cover it up. All done in one
pass. We did have to start it out and then pull the plastic off
the roll and bury the end to start a row. Same when we cut it
at the end of a row. Manual process even to dig the trench.

We then planted the plants using a transplanter that punched
holes in the plastic with a big steel wheel and cleats.

If they hadn't both been Allis Chalmers quick hitch we could have
done the entire deal in one pass by hooking them together.

To wet for me but the ground is EZ to dig and a prob to locate all the chit I have under ground goes rite in the ground... I am running natural gas to the shop and a french drain around the house while I am still man enuff to dig... Overnight about a ft of water leached into the ditch I tell its wet... I cut 52 trees out of the yard in 96, 35 were in the back yard when you hit a place were there is a dead root its like hitting a spring... Tell you the truth I did not think I still had in in me to dig 8 hr. You can bet your sweet arse all this underground stuff will me mapped out when I am done...
