8n Trouble with hydrolics

Hello, first off great site! Loads of info. I have a 1948 8n started out the hydrolics would not hold up a implement and they would also "stick" in the up position when warm. So I completely rebuilt the pump with new safety valve, scotch yokes, inlet valves, springs, etc, installed a new ram cylinder,an updated ram piston with o ring and rubber wiper. I also replaced the pto shaft and bearings. Now the implements stay up but there is no dropping them slowly, also they will stick in the up position unless I run the hydro. all the way up. Also I can't drop them slowly. This is very frustrating when trying to run a brush hog. If you leave the hydrolics all the way up and shut the tractor off they will not drop unless you start the tractor. You can't stop them half way down, if you try to lift it back up you half to go all the way down then back up. Maybe a touch control adjustment? All comments welcome!

" Maybe a touch control adjustment?"

Probably not.

Sounds like a broken/stuck spring on the exhaust side. Or a clogged inlet.

But it's worth checking the friction disc before you drop the pump again.

Remove the inspection plate & see if the control rod follows the touch control lever.

If not, it's easy enough to repalce the friction disc.

Remove the right side inspection plate and reach in and try to move the control rod back and forth with the little mode selector lever in the down
draft position and see if the intake valve spring is pushing the control rod back.

If the spring is broken it won't let the lift down.

When I installed the lift cover after the rebuild the control arm didn't move much compared to the control lever so I'm going to replace the friction disc first and go from there. I'll check the control valve spring also.
