changing seals on 1947 early 8n with single seal, have everything off down to oil seal retainer , this is made of thin metal with 2 bolts and 4 protrusions on retainer,its bolted to bendix, I have bolts off and not sure of how to remove oil seal retainer and dont want to ruin it it would bend easy, when 2 bolts are off is there anything behind the 4 protrusions to hold the retainer on? i dont have to take off back bolts that hold bearing retainer. If and when i get to outer seal is there a trick to get them out. also shows gaske in fron of seal , i didnt get one with seals maybe i can make one.
