i took one of my trailers out for excersize and look what hopped on it, 1951 ford deluxe, actually this one belongs to a friend of mine who's father bought it new, and really seldom drove it, it just sat it shows 26,000 miles and change all original down to its flathead 6 cylinder and 3 speed column shift trans, im assuming this engine was one used on the funk conversions? the stolen, i mean "borrowed" wheels and tires dont stay on the car, his wifes jeep was parked near it and... its original ones are under a 1956 crown vic right now, ive got some ford rims around here someplace to make it easy to move it around, im going to do some minor body work and put the car in primer to preserve it for now, the car runs and drives and drove itself onto the trailer, with a 1972 license plate i didnt feel driving it home would go un noticed by the law

ill check some more, old registration shows it as a 51, maybe a early 52 bought in '51?

I guess I was too stunned to notice " it drove itself onto the trailer". VERY cool find. How's the interior ? Only reason I noticed the grill is; I had a '52 convertible in '63, paid a whopping $450 for it, a real nice car - everything worked, BUT, it was painted a pinky mauve! Enjoy.

(quoted from post at 05:33:29 03/31/15) Just wondering, the grill looks like a '52. Hey I was wrong before ('72 I think). ;^)

Do a google search, it is a 51, I had a 49 with a v8, wish I still had it. Brother had a 50 with the 6 and also a 51 crown vic with a v8.

interior is out and stored, the floor needs a few patch panels, not much but just a few 5o cent size places under the drivers seat, im thinking a window was left partially down at some point probably by kids playing, and water got in , the owners mom would go out to its shed every once in awhile when she was still able, and if she saw rust on the bumpers she hit it with some silver paint, not sure if that helped or hurt chrome all needs to be done now

sure are, and the owners wife wants them back! we took them off her jeep, well, it was handy, and had the same bolt pattern, that will teach her to take his corvette to work lol

I can hear the conversation now.
Cop: Sir, do you know your plate is expired?
You: Really, I didn't know that.
Nice score.

In Ohio I'm told (don't know personally) you can display the old plate if you buy and have the historic vehicle plate in the car.

I wish I had the desire to fix sum'N like that up... When you wrench on cars all day its no fun to wrench on cars in yer spare time for chicken fee...
