funk project

One of my funk projects needed a carb and exhaust manifold. A guy called me and said he had them. After a little
negotiation I ended up buying the whole thing. Now if some of the snow and ice will melt I can get the funk in the
barn for a transplant.

Do you know what it came out of ?

Looks like the thermostat is at a slight sideways angle , I think all of the ones I have point up but straight forward .

Is the carb tilted slightly or flat , just curious .

It came out of a '49 F1 pickup. I know the intake has the tilt unlike the industrials but the one I had in the
funk was probably a trans plant out of a pickup. The tilted carb will make it look like it's going down the road
fast. I know you already gave the wedge spacer for the carb to Bob from Pa. Got any extras???

That thermostat housing (and possibly engine) originally came out of a car. The truck thermostat housing is pointing straight toward the front at about a 45* angle up, not to the left side. The car thermostat housings come off toward the left side. Overall it's a non issue as the 226 H used in the cars and trucks are identical internally.

I don't remember the guy that got the wedge spacer other than he was a Doctor that was moving to central Arkansas ? Anyway I am glad he could use it . I would image it could be made without too much effort from mild steel or aluminum and a little sweat .

The motor I have in my funk now came from a 51 F1 . It smokes but it is whole and moves on its own power . Still a lot that needs done to make it useable . I have a motor in the shop in the rebuild process ( project # 400 I think ? )

Anybody know what that double groove pulley is for ? Governor ? I am thinking of doing a foot feed and Tach on this one but saving this pulley when I build another spacer plate . I will build a governor on that one if I don't use the 300 six ( project #844 )

Cut a few inches out of the intake so an air cleaner would work . I doubt I will notice any performance issues on a tractor . Just wondering where to add a heater core & fan

They make a 12v mini starter . This one was rebuilt by a local mom and pop shop that has since closed the doors . But I'll save it for the 6v system on #2 .
This Funk has a hand made sheet metal hood extension .

I think they made 3 heads for the H 226 , the 0HXXXX ('50) , the 1HXXX ('51) , and a 48 year ? Are you familiar with these head casting numbers and do they have different CC's like the 9n vs. 8n heads , Thanks - Ken.

Very nice! I see by your photo you also have the truck engine with the tilted intake manifold. I'm guessing you have the carb spacer cause the top of the pancake looks horizontal/level.
Thanks for posting.

Ken, Any idea where I could pick up a carb spacer? Do you have the part number for it?
Thanks, Kirk
