I can not find a voltage regulator for my 42 2n. I have found them for 8n front mount distributor but not 2n. Will the 8n work?
Your other left hand, Bruce!"(quoted from post at 09:44:41 02/06/15) " It has the square box on it not the one like above"
That doesn't tell us much.
JMOR posted a picture (above) of eight generators and 3 v/r's.
And you say ".......not the [b:6f16887ba1]one[/b:6f16887ba1] like above"
Royse posted a picture of a cut out. That's not a v/r.
So, lets start over.
Does your tractor have a v/r on it now?
If yes, which one of the 3 JMOR posted.
If no, then it has a cut out, correct?

ot like any Ford that I have ever seen. Post a picture of your generator.(quoted from post at 22:15:48 03/28/15) It looks like the lower left corner.
ooks like that to me too, Gary. The VR can looks like those used on some other tractors of the past, and I do not see a third brush adjuster screw, thus indicating one of later generators. Looks like there is a name on that VR cover. Buff it a bit & may be able to read, Delco-Remy or something else.(quoted from post at 00:50:37 03/29/15) [b:45ec3de77d][i:45ec3de77d]
Looks to me like, there has been an attempt to wire up, the same thing as I use on MY 2N.
An 8N genny and a Echlin VR 950, BUT that wiring leaves much to be desired, and really don't know what genny that is, or what VR was used.
His vr, is hung as is mine...on the tool box hanger, but does NOT really look like the Vr 950, that I used....??????
His genny looks to have the same config. as mine, BUT.....who knows without having an elect. look at it.!!!!????
My VR on my 2N....same place as his...!:
Pic. of the genny I used...came off a 48N...:
Wiring diagram, that I used with added 8N charging system...:

ou probably should not want to find out what gen it should have, as if you change to that you will very likely have less charging capacity than the current generator should have.(quoted from post at 23:29:16 03/29/15) How do I figure out which generator I should have. There are two different ones on this website for 2ns.
